Habitat:
Rolling forested terrain. Common in poor fen and poor conifer swamp. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Deep, moderately quaky, saturated peat, with continuous Sphagnum spp. carpets. Associated species include Carex chordorrhiza, C. limosa, Eriophorum vaginatum, E. chamissonis, E. virginicum, Sarracenia purpurea, Scheuchzeria palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Menyanthes trifoliata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Ledum groenlandicum, Kalmia polifolia.
