Habitat: Rolling forested moraine. Locally abundant, forming the dominant cover in large areas of poor sedge fen. Full sun to partial shade of scattered, stunted Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Plants with long rhizomes; forming large, fairly dense patches in saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum spp. carpets. Associated species include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Kalmia polifolia, Andromeda glaucophylla. Adaxial leaf papillae indistinct on all but a few leaves.
