Habitat: In level to gently-sloping area of fairly rugged terrain...in mature pine forest dominated by Pinus banksiana, P. resinosa, Abies balsamea, and Betula papyrifera. Understory of Abies balsamea. Sandy soil with dense moss carpets. Associated species include Lycopodium dendroideum, L. clavatum, Linnaea borealis, Anemone quinquefolia, Maianthemum canadense, Gaultheria procumbens, Vaccinium angustifolium.
