Habitat: In a transitional area between a mesic hardwood community and a wet meadow community. This location has a canopy of Fraxinus nigra. Associate species include Athyrium filix-femina, Viola labradorica, Tilia americana, Osmorhiza claytonii, Trillium, cernuum, Anemone canadensis, Carex deweyana, and Botrychium ascendens.
