Habitat: Along 40m terrace of 80m high, multi-terraced SE-facing metasedimentary cliff above lake. About 4 m above cliff base in moderate to dense cover of shrubs. Associates: Juniperus communis, Cornus rugosa, Prunus virginiana (from talus at base), Symphoricarpos alba, Woodsia ilvensis, Heuchera richardsoni, Aquilegia canadensis, Solidago hispida, Rhus glabra, Campanula rotundifolia, Lilium philadelphicum.

Description: One of a few 5cm dbh, ~5m tall, saplings. One 7cm dbh individual and several seedlings within a few meters.
