Habitat: moist, densely-vegetated sand-gravel bars along the [river] above its gorge. Full sun to partial shade of surrounding forest trees including Pinus strobus & Thuja occidentalis. Associates include Carex crinita, Scirpus atrovirens, Cornus stolonifera, Alnus incana, Phalaris arundinacea, Eupatorium maculatum, Galium asprellum, Cicuta maculata, Equisetum arvense.
