Habitat: Small-patch mesic Thuja occidentalis - Betula alleghaniensis forest. Well-drained soil of increasing coarseness with depth (sandy loam to sand) and considerable cobble constituents. Vernal and pools and rocky drainages occur throughout the community.
Associated Species: Acer subrum, Betula papyrifera, Betula alleghaniensis, Thuja occidentalis, Tilia americana, and Abies balsamea. Groundcover associates of Phegopteris connectilis, Lycopodium annotinum, Athyrium filix-femina var. angustum, Eurybia macrophylla, Carex arctata, Carex intumescens, Carex pedunculata, Cornus alternifolia, and Lonicera canadensis.
Description: Sparse patch of fertile individuals.
