Habitat: In a small patch mesic Thuja occidentalis - Betula alleghaniensis forest. Well-drained soil of increasing coarseness with depth (sandy loam to sand) and considerable cobble constituents. Vernal pools and rocky drainages occur throughout community. In low swale under partial canopy of Acer rubrum. Overstory and understory species of Acer rubrum, Betula papyrifera, Betula alleghaniensis, Thuja occidentalis, Tilia americana, and Abies balsamea. Groundcover associates of Phegopteris connectilis, Lycopodium annotinum, Athyrium filix-feminia var. angustum, Eurybia macrophylla, Carex arctata, Carex intumescens, Carex pedunculata, Cornus alternifolia, and Lonicera canadensis.
