Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine ... mid portion of extremely steep, 150-foot, north-facing slope...mature maple-basswood forest dominated by Acer saccharum and Tilia americana. Understory of Ostrya virginiana and Acer saccharum. Dark, moss-covered sandy-loam. Associated species include Carex pedunculata, C. deweyana, Solidago flexicaulis, Impatiens capensis, Circaea alpina, Pyrola asarifolia, Galium triflorum, Athyrium angustum, Gymnocarpium dryopteris.
