Habitat: heavily grazed wooded pasture. Open canpy composed of Quercus alba, Q. rubra & Q. macrocarpa. Associates include Ostrya virviniana [sic] and two other Crataegus (MDL1943, 1944). Dark, rocky loam.
Description: One 5m tall tree. Single-stemmed tree with 12cm basal diameter. Poorly-developed compound thorns rare on main trunk. Overall, much less thorny than other hawthorns here.
