Habitat: Large conifer wetland complex forming the headwaters of the [river] ... Rich conifer swamp. Canopy fairly dense, dominated by Picea mariana, with scattered Larix laricina, Abies balsamea, and Thuja occidentalis. In Sphagnum and feathermoss carpets. Deep, saturated peat. Associates include Platanthera obtusata, Mitella nuda, Goodyera repens, Linnaea borealis, Cornus canadensis, Moneses uniflora, Rubus pubescens, Smilacina trifoliata, Cypripedium reginae, Coptis groenlandica, Carex leptalea, C. disperma.
