Habitat: in crevices...Full sun 10-40 feet above the lake in exposed, much-fractured diabase which slopes gradually to south. Associates include Veronica teucrium, Sedum purpureum, Dianthus deltoides, Poa compressa, Physocarpos opulifolius, Juniperus horizontalis, Potentilla fruticosa, P. tridentata, Diervilla lonicera, Achillea millefolium, Campanula rotundifolia, Euphrasia hudsoniana.
