Habitat:
On lower portion of steep, southwest-facing slope of a 35-foot high sandy terrace, and on adjacent level floodplain. Beneath canopy of Quercus macrocarpa, Fraxinus pennsyvanica, Acer negundo, and Acer saccharinum. Sand and silty-sand substrate. Scattered groups of plants seen in mesic settings along ~1/4 mile of slope and bottomland. Associated species include Carex pensylvanica, Glaium aprine, G. triflorum, Laportea canadensis, Phryma leptostachya, Rhamnus cathartica.
