Habitat: Pinus resinosa forest with P. strobus, Betula papyrifera, Picea mariana, Salix humilis, Vaccinium agustifolium, Arctostaphylus uva-ursi, Gaultheria procumbens, Aralia hispida, Corydalis sempervirens, Piptatherum pungens, etc. Shallow to rock.
Associated Species: Thuja occidentalis, Dryopteris expansa, Osmunda cinnamomea, Athyrium felix-femina, Dryopteris carthusiana, Phegopteris connectilis, Lycopodium dendroideum, etc.
