Habitat: In shallow soils of bedrock outcrop with scattered Pinus banksiana, Amelanchier, Vaccinium angustifolium, V. myrtiloides, Comptonia peregrina, Piptatherum pungens, Schizachne purpurascens, Dnathonia spicata, Carex tonsa var. rugosperma, etc.
