Habitat: Locally rare in slightly elevated topographic feature in forested peatland complex and adjacent cedar swamp. Possibly associated with bedrock. In dense shade of Picea mariana. Growing from feather moss or Sphagnum patches. Very sparse herbaceous cover.
Associated Species: Near associates Cornus canadensis, Gaultheria hispidula, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, Linnea borealis, Maianthemum trifolium, Platanthera orbiculata.
