Habitat: Locally rare, growing as small group of flowering plants from Sphagnum moss hummocks elevated around tree bases in white cedar swamp. In filtered light.
Associated Species: With Thuja occidentalis, Cornus canadensis, Abies balsamea, Coptis trifolia, Rhododendron groenlandicum, Carex magellanica, Chelone glabra, Alnus incana, Maianthemum canadense, Carex leptalea, Carex intertior, Trientalis borealis, Cardamine pratensis v. palustris.
