Habitat: Growing from moss hummocks and peat in moderate shade and in small opening of tamarack and wt. cedar.
Associated Species: Assoc. include Rhamnus alnifolia, Rubus pubescens, Lonicera villosa, Betula pumila, Carex lacustris, Equisetum fluviatile, Caltha palustris, Symphyotrichum puniceum, Chelone glabra, Iris versicolor, Sium suave, Impatiens capensis.
Notes: Occasional small groups of plants flowering and fruiting.
