Habitat: In post-wild fire community, in area of severe burn intensity. On west-facing, 12 degree slope under light shade of young trees and shrubs.
Substrate: Growing in thin organic mat on shallow bedrock, sandy clay loam soil.
Associated Species: Populus remuloides, Pinus banksiana, Diervilla lonicera, Rubus pubescens, Clintonia borealis, Rosa acicularis, Epilobium angustifolium, Cornus canadensis, Carex houghtoniana, Corylus cornuta, Amelanchier sp., Eurybia macrophylla.
