Growing in mats of shallow organics over thin gravelly sandy loam. Ground cover sparse.
Amelanchier sp., Vaccinium angustifolia, Diervilla lonicera, Carex cf.tonsa, Dicanthelium depauperatum and bryophytes including Funaria hygrometrica.
