in shaded lowest 2 m of 20 m ESE-facing basalt cliff. Growing in vertical crack about 1.5 m long, on highly fractured rock face. Nearby associates on rock face include: Aquilegia canadensis, Cinna latifolia, Woodsia ilvensis.
