Habitat:
Along the edge of a 5 foot wide ditch through an alder swamp community. Patches of this species appear to be localized in areas where other vegetation is sparse or absent. Associate species include Carex utriculata, Leersia oryzoides, Phalaris arundinacea, Alnus incana, Glyceria grandis, and Eutrochium maculatum.
