Habitat: Forested floodplain of the Straight River. At north-facing edge of mature oak-ash forest. Mesic loamy soil. Associated with Quercus alba, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Prunus serotina.
Description: A large rhizomatous shrub forming a clone 4 m across, with numerous stems, the largest 4 m tall, and 4 cm dbh. At peak anthesis this date.
