Habitat: Understory of a mesic deciduous forest on a E-facing bluff overlooking the river. Forest dominated by Quercus rubra and Tilia americana. In mesic sandy loam Associated wtih Ostrya virginiana, Betula papyrifera, Acer saccharum, Amelanchier arborea, A. interior.
Description: Infrequent. A clonal shrub with multiple stems, the largest 3 m tall, and 2 cm dbh. Ovaries densely wooly. Bark gray, smooth.
