Habitat:
Locally abundant in a large gravel pit. Forming small to rather large patches in moist mucky gravel on the margins of shallow water-filled depressions, in the abandoned (southern) portion of a gravel pit, beneath a power line. Full sun.

Associates include Juncus nodosus, Eleocharis pauciflora, Carex cryptolepis, Lycopus uniflorus, Euthamia graminifolia, Prunella vulgaris.
