Habitat:
Rare and local in a small (~1/4-acre) vernal wetland, perched on the moderately steep south-facing slope of a 350-foot ridge. The wetland is a small meadow dominated by Carex retrorsa and C. vesicaria. Shaded most of the day by Fraxinus nigra growing on the edge of the wetland and Acer saccharum in the surrounding northern hardwood forest. Moist shallow organic layer over rocky loamy soil; on outer margin of the shallow basin.
