Habitat: Locally common on gabbro / diorite outcrops near the crest of a fairly steep, southeast-facing bedrock knoll ~350 feet above the Lake Superior shore. Forming patches in shallow soil over bedrock. Low shrubs, 6-18 inches tall, with lots of white fruits. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Rhus glabra, Diervilla lonicera, Prunus pensylvanica, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Amelanchier spp., Woodsia ilvensis, Poa compressa.
