Habitat: Locally abundant in the ecotone between upland aspen-birch-fir forest and a sedge fen wetland. Forming dense patches in moist sandy-loam with a shallow organic cap. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Agrostis scabra, Scirpus cyperinus, Iris versicolor, Mentha arvensis, Scutellaria galericulata, Epilobium angustifolium, Lycopus uniflorus, Spiraea alba.
