Habitat:
Infrequent in dry gravelly soil in landing, and locally common in dry gravelly settings along the margins of the logging road. Full sun to partial shade.

Associates include Lotus corniculatus, Solidago gigantea, Anaphalis margaritacea, Prunella vulgaris, Trifolium pratense, Fragaria virginiana, Achillea millefolium, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Aster macrophyllus, A. ciliolatus, Danthonia spicata, Phleum pratense, Agrostis alba.
