Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Along the Poplar River in rugged bedrock terrain three miles northwest of Lutsen, just upstream from the Lutsen Mountains Ski Area; ~100 yards upstream from an old bridge where the river descends 100+ feet over steep rapids and falls. NE1/4 of SE1/4 of NE1/4 Sec. 20, Superior National Forest

Habitat: Locally common on the south bank of the river. Full sun to partial shade along the inland margin of a narrow riparian meadow bordering slack water. Forming patches, these often rather dense. Moist to quite wet, shallow organic soil.
Associated Species: Associates include Rhamnus alnifolia, Myrica gale, Spiraea alba, Cornus stolonifera, Salix pellita, Eupatorium maculatum, Carex vesicaria, Calamagrostis canadensis.
