Locality: United States, Minnesota, Olmsted, Along the North Fork Whitewater River five miles east-southeast of Plainview. Uncommon and local in several spots on a very steep 160-foot, north-facing bluff ~1 mile upstream (around a large river bend) from the mouth of the Logan Branch. SE1/4 of NE1/4 of NW1/4 Sec. 3, Whitewater State Wildlife Management Area

Habitat: Small patches encountered on mossy ledges of a shady, mesic to rather moist, 60- to 120-foot high dolomite cliff, and on the very steep slope adjacent to the cliff. Partial shade beneath Pinus strobus, Tilia americana, Ostrya virginiana, and Corylus cornuta.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex eburnea, Cystopteris bulbifera, Rubus pubescens, Aquilegia canadensis, Maianthemum canadense, Mitella diphylla, Viburnum rafinesquianum, Taxus canadensis.
