Habitat:
Uncommon and quite local in alder swamp dominated by Alnus incana. Sparse canopy of Fraxinus nigra and Thuja occidentalis (these mostly dead due to beaver flooding of this wetland). Small patch here in full sun in a moist hollow between hummocks of Carex canescens and Calamagrostis canadensis. Plants rooted in moss mats which the prostrate stems trail over and through. Several additional plants encountered along the margins of the small slack-water stream that flows through the swamp.
