Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Fairly rugged forested terrain between the Gooseberry River and Dago Creek, one mile west-southwest of London Crossing, twelve miles north-northeast of Two Harbors. Atop 150-foot ridge just north of the North Shore State Trail. SE1/4 of NW1/4 Sec. 3

Habitat: Uncommon and local in mature maple-basswood forest. Canopy dominated by Acer saccharum, Tilia americana, and Quercus rubra. Understory mostly Acer saccharum and Ostrya virginiana. On gentle south-facing slope above the crest of the ridge. Rocky loamy soil, shallow to bedrock.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Uvularia grandiflora, U. sessilifolia, Osmorhiza claytonii, Aralia nudicaulis, Viola pubescens, Aster macrophyllus, Actaea pachypoda, Carex pensylvanica, C. deweyana, Schizachne purpurascens, Dirca palustris.
