Habitat: On the upper portion of an extremely steep west-facing slope 350 feet above the river. Local on lower half of 40-foot, west-facing diabase cliff; in crevices and on mossy ledges in fully to partially shaded, mesic to dry-mesic settings on a cliff which is otherwise quite dry, sunny, and often higher for most of its 1/2-mile length. This spot is at the north end of the western of two narrow fault-line canyons. Shaded by Thuja occidentalis, Abies balsamea, Alnus viridis.
Associated Species: Associates include Agrostis scabra, Carex media, C. eburnea, Aquilegia canadensis, Cystopteris fragilis, Gymnocarpium jessoense, Dryopteris fragrans, Saxifraga virginiensis, Solidago hispida.
