Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Rugged bedrock terrain between Hwy 61 and the Lake Superior shoreline, 2.5 miles north of Little Marais, on the inland side of a ridge rising 300 feet above Lake Superior. E1/2 of NE1/4 of SW1/4 Sec. 10, NW1/4 of NW1/4 of SE1/4 Sec. 10

Habitat: Occasional to frequent on a 30- to 80-foot, northwest-facing, mesic basalt cliff. On mossy ledges and in crevices, mostly on the somewhat more moist lower third of the cliff face. Often partially shaded by Betula cordifolia, B. papyrifera, Thuja occidentalis, Alnus viridis ssp. crispa, and Sorbus decora. Hundreds of clumps along ~1/3-mile of cliff face. Plants yellow colored.
Associated Species: Associates include Huperzia selago, Dryopteris fragrans, Woodsia ilvensis, Campanula rotundifolia, Solidago hispida, Agrostis scabra, Festuca brachyphylla var. rydbergii, Poa glauca.
