Habitat:
Occasional to locally abundant on the mid-slope of an extremely steep, 300-foot, southwest-facing bluff. Dry-mesic woodland (overgrown prairie / oak savanna) with a fairly dense canopy dominated by Juniperus virginiana, with scattered Tilia americana, Quercus macrocarpa, Celtis occidentalis, and Ulmus rubra. Forming patches in dry rocky silt (dolomitic colluvium) downslope from dolomite cliffs.
