Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, In the gorge of the lower Poplar River, 1.5 miles west-southwest of Lutsen; immediately downstream from the Highway 61 bridge (~1/5 mile upstream from Lake Superior). E1/2 of SW1/4 of NE1/4 Sec. 33, SW1/4 of SE1/4 of NE1/4 Sec. 33

Verbatim Coordinates: T060N R03W sec33
Habitat: Local on cool, mesic to quite moist, east-facing basalt cliffs in a narrow, 100-foot deep river gorge. Occasional in crevices and moss mats on the mostly inaccessible mid- to upper portion of a 60-foot high cliff face. Shaded by the gorge walls and by Thuja occidentalis, Abies balsamea, Pinus strobus, Acer spicatum, and Betula papyrifera growing atop the gorge.
Associated Species: Associates include Cystopteris fragilis, C. bulbifera, Woodsia alpina, Campanula rotundifolia, Prenanthes alba, Aquilegia canadensis.
