Uncommon and local at the crest of an extremely steep, west-facing, 300-foot slope above the headwaters of Sawmill Creek.~20 clumps in thin soil with much needle duff over exposed bedrock on sloping, rounded, little-fractured upper portion of a 70-foot high, northwest-facing, dry-mesic anorthosite cliff. In partial shade of Pinus resinosa and Thuja occidentalis. Plants yellowish-green colored.
Associated with Vaccinium angustifolium, and seedlings of Betula papyrifera, Pinus resinosa.
