Habitat: Occasional on narrow mossy ledges of a 50- to 75-foot, north-facing, mesic diorite cliff which forms the upper portion of a steep, 220-foot slope. Shaded by the north aspect of the cliff, and by trees including Thuja occidentalis, Betula cordifolia, and old-growth Pinus strobus.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex eburnea, Aquilegia canadensis, Woodsia ilvensis, Huperzia appalachiana, Dryopteris fragrans, Campanula rotundifolia, Saxifraga aizoon.
