Description:
large bush to small tree, ~3 m; in flower; flowers white; young leaves bright green, older leaves darker, shiny, coriaceous; greenish crescent-shaped fruits; This species is reported to contain ibogaine chemically well studied; fruits edible. Amonst the Mayna Jivaro, the bark is soaked in water, or the stem latex, is applied directly to toothaches, the entire genus is chemically relatively well studied. It is known for indole alkaloids.
