Description: Small shrub; leaves highly overgrown with fungal epiphytes and/or lichens. This species is reported to contain ibogaine fruits edible; Amonst the Mayna Jivaro, the bark is soaked in water, or the stem latex, is applied directly to toothaches; The entire genus is chemically relatively well studied. It is known for indole alkaloids.
