Habitat: Rolling terrain ... in highly degraded dry prairie pasture on rather steep, mid-portion of 70 foot, south-facing slope. Full sun. Dry, gravelly, sandy-loam. Asociates include Bromus inermis, Poa pratensis, Stipa spartea, Andropogon gerardii, Beouteloua curtipendula, Melilotus alba, M. offcinale, Aster ericoides, Petalostemum purpureum, Glycyrrhiza lepidota, Astragalus adsurgens, A. crassicarpus, Solidago gigantea, Delphinium virescens, Anemone patens, A. cylindrica, Asclepias syriaca, Echinacea angustifolia, Physalis heterophylla, Lithospermum canescens.
