Locality: United States, South Dakota, Roberts, Alto, A pasture owned by Darrell and Bonnie Pies is approximately 9 miles north/northwest of Summit. The pasture in on the Prairie Coteau.

Habitat: A 3+ acre rick fen occurs in a drainage way and a wet meadow occurs west of the fen. The soil in the fen appears to be mapped as Marsh and Rauville mucky silt loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes, a Cumulic Haplaquoll. The soil in the fen is actually a muck (medisaprist).
Associated Species: Carex aquatilis, Carex pellita, Carex utriculata, Equisetum fluviatile, Lemma sp., Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Typha latifolia
Notes: Hundreds occur in the shallow pools of the floating mat portion of the rich fen. Also occurs in shallow water in the west portion of a marsh north of the rich fen. (T123N R52W Section 13 NE4 NE4 SW4 NW4 and SE4 SE4 NW4 NW4)
