Habitat:
Sugar maple, yellow birch, white cedar upland forest with large birch trees (90cm dbh). Duff layer present and intact. Not much evidence of deer herbivory; cedar seedlings and Taxus common. Yellow birch nurse logs present. Large cobble component (60%) to soil profile.

Common associates: Abies balsamea, Streptopus lanceolatus, Clintonia borealis, Huperzia lucidula, and Trientalis borealis.
