Habitat: Plants growing on gravelly ridges throughout dry prairie that appears to have become degraded from grazing. Associates include Bromus inermis, Poa pratense, and Rudbeckia hirta. A. patens was observed blooming at this time throughout a number of sites in NW Yellow Medicine County this year.
