tree, to 8.3 m in height, DBH 6.5 cm, trunk height to foliage 3.3 m, crown height 5 m, crown width 2.2 m; foliage 0.6 kg mature wet mass; outer bark with lenticels; fissures vertical; bark black, brown; cambium brown; wood light brown, white; exudate orange, red; DNA preserved in silica, from felled plot. Local name: mongtop Local use: timber for house construction, posts, fencing and firewood; also used to light fires by friction with strip of bamboo
