small tree, to 10.5 m in height, DBH 6.7 cm, trunk height to foliage 5.8 m, crown height 4.7 m, crown width 3 m; foliage 1 kg mature wet mass, 0.167 kg juvenile wet mass; outer bark rough; fissures vertical, narrow; bark black, dark brown, brown; cambium dark brown, brown; wood brown, light brown; exudate absent; DNA preserved in silica, from felled plot. Local name: mongtop Local use: timber for house construction, posts, fencing and firewood; also used to light fires by friction with strip of bamboo
