small tree, to 7.1 m in height, DBH 6.6 cm, trunk height to foliage 2.3 m, crown height 4.8 m, crown width 2.2 m, stilt roots up to 0.65 m; foliage 0.5 kg mature wet mass; outer bark rough; fissures vertical, narrow; bark black; cambium brown; wood light brown, white; exudate white; DNA preserved in silica, from felled plot. Local name: mongtop Local use: timber for house construction, posts, fencing and firewood; also used to light fires by friction with strip of bamboo
