tree, to 7.1 m in height, DBH 6.8 cm, trunk height to foliage 2.3 m, crown height 4.8 m, crown width 3.1 m; foliage 1.1 kg mature wet mass; outer bark rough, with lenticels; fissures vertical, narrow; bark black, brown, light brown, white; cambium light brown, orange, red; wood light brown, white; exudate absent; DNA preserved in silica, from felled plot. Local name: mongtop Local use: timber for house construction, posts, fencing and firewood; also used to light fires by friction with strip of bamboo
