tree, to 8.3 m in height, DBH 5.1 cm, trunk height to foliage 1.3 m, crown height 7 m, crown width 2.3 m; foliage 1 kg mature wet mass; outer bark with lenticels; fissures vertical, horizontal, narrow; bark brown; cambium brown; wood black, brown, white; exudate red; DNA preserved in silica, from felled plot. Local name: mongtop Local use: timber for house construction, posts, fencing and firewood; also used to light fires by friction with strip of bamboo
